This is why I love my work

This weekend has been absolutely productive and packed with activity!

Saturday started with portraits of the Bradbury family. The father, Adrian, is a familiar face if you have been following the coverage for the GuluWalk.
Here's Adrian with his son Isaac.

Next stop was to meet up with wedding consultant Lisa Smith (of Eat Drink Marry - what a great company name!) and client Nadine on Queen Street West. Despite awful traffic, I made it in time for Nadine's dress fitting at Lowon Pope - proprietor and designer of goddess-wear. Seriously beautiful creations in their boutique.
Nadine admires the fit on her gown.

My evening was spent at the lovely Park Hyatt Roof Salon, celebrating with engaged couple Keren and Laura. Keren and I lived at the same residence during our U of T days and we've kept in touch over the years. Keren, who is an identical twin, met Laura, who is also an identical twin (!) while she was in law school in Boston.

This morning was devoted to photographing little Mya - a little girl with a lot of personality! Mya's mom, Rola, is one of the ladies starting up Revive Decor. I'll be photographing their pieces for their print and online catalogue soon.

And, to top it all off, Pursuit alumni magazine is done! If you are alumni of the BPHE program or a former U of T Varsity athlete, you should be getting a copy of the next issue in the next few weeks. I'll add a link for that here soon.

I think Monday is going to be a day off! Phew!

Welcome to the internet!

Welcome, little Samantha, to the moderate fame of having your photo posted on my website!

Sweet baby, who despite being a bit off her game in terms of mood, still managed to strike some poses. Turns out that I have met this family before, but knew them simply as Beans' (the dog's) people!

Spring is here

Amazing weather outside! Feels great to have draft #2 of the Pursuit alumni magazine out the door. Just a few more sign-off's and it will be ready to go to print next week. I'll post the magazine as a pdf as soon as it is ready for public viewing.

Looking forward to meeting with some potential clients tonight and then on Friday I'll be taking some baby photos of Samantha. The best part about both of these -- they are neighbours and live within a block from my house!

the ups and downs of owning a dog

Ups
- fun to train
- love
- entertaining
- great excuse to get outside and walk
- socializing with other dog owners
- rewarding to have a well trained dog

Down
- picking up his vomit and finding a surprise.

In what was perhaps the most disgusting moment in history. Dog barfs, fine, I'm used to it now, he probably ate something bad. I definitely wasn't expecting to find this in it though. Be warned, don't click if you are at all sensitive to this subject. This is not a joke. Click here

Varsity Blues 2005-06

Track teammates Mark Stewart and Megan Brown named U of T's 2005-06 T-Holder Athletes of the Year.

Mark Stewart (male athlete of the year), Megan Brown (female athlete of the year), Melissa Clifford (Benson Award winner; track; volleyball; rowing), Thorsten Klaus (Biggs Award winner, mountain biking).

Another year of the Varsity Blues season draws to a close. Hard to believe that another school year has gone by. It always passes so quickly - whether I was a student (1995-99), as a staff member of the university, or now, as a photographer, I'm always stunned when it's once again April and time to celebrate the end of the Varsity Blues season. The highlight of the athletic banquet has always been the slideshow -- but this year it was special to see photos I took throughout the year. It's not often your work gets projected on a huge screen for an audience of 570!

I'll take some time later this weekend to post some more photos from the banquet.
