World's fastest man to visit Toronto

Mark June 11 in your calendars - that is the day Usain Bolt, Olympic champion and world's fastest man will be visiting Toronto. The University of Toronto will be hosting the Festival of Excellence track meet - the first time since the 1970s that an international track meet will be in Toronto.

I was at the press conference last week announcing the lineup which will include Canadian hurdler and Beijing bronze medallist Priscilla Lopes-Schliep (pictured below), Perdita Felicien and decathlete Bryan Clay (USA).

You can read the U of T press release and find out how to buy tickets here:

The event will also be televised live on TSN - which is probably how I will end up taking the whole thing in. As cool as it would be to try to get myself into this event to photograph, I'm pretty sure I'll be too sluggish at that point to capture anything other than heels and dust.

Priscilla with Toronto Track stars Mark Dillon (high jump) and Massimo Bertocchi (decathalon).

Priscilla shows off her medal. (You can't really tell in these photos, but her arms are pretty pumped.)

U of T director of athletics Liz Hoffman addresses the press as Olympians faculty phys ed dean Bruce Kidd and Priscilla Lopes-Schliep look on.
